Russian missile strikes killed five people, including a child, in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro last night. Additionally, a teenager and another person died in attacks on Kyiv and the surrounding region, officials reported on Saturday.

The strikes occurred within 48 hours after Russia hosted a three-day summit of the BRICS group in Kazan, where President Vladimir Putin faced pressure from world leaders to end the conflict.

“After all the discussions in Kazan, Russian assailants have returned to their usual barbaric ways,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Saturday.

“This once again proves that aggression cannot be halted by mere words, but only by resolute actions in defense of the nation,” he emphasized.

The missile strikes on Dnipro on Friday night resulted in the deaths of five individuals and caused extensive damage to various buildings, including a hospital, as confirmed by authorities.

Governor of Dnipropetrovsk region, Sergiy Lysak, reported on Telegram that over a dozen others, including children, were injured in the city.

Pictures shared by the governor depicted rescuers working amidst debris, with one image showing a hospital room with shattered windows.

In separate attacks last night on Kyiv and its surrounding region, two people, including a teenage girl, lost their lives. The girl was killed in a drone strike on an apartment building, according to regional authorities.

Ukrainian cities like Kyiv have endured deadly drone and missile assaults throughout Russia's invasion.

Kyiv has been urging for increased air defense support from its allies leading up to what is anticipated to be a challenging winter, as Moscow intensifies strikes on energy infrastructure.

On Saturday, the Russian military announced the capture of the frontline village of Oleksandropol in Ukraine's eastern Donetsk region, where they have made several advancements in recent months.
