- vivo 的 one more thing:vivo X200 Pro mini

Out with the old, in with the new every year.
It's amazing how the update frequency of smartphones is now being counted in years, with a trend from annual updates to biannual updates, and even triannual updates. Many consumers are now faced with the happy dilemma of being enticed by new products while still feeling a bit itchy inside.
In May of this year, vivo X100 Ultra was released and lived up to its reputation as the "Image Overlord," maintaining a leading position in the fierce battle of "image marathons." However, just five months later, the vivo X series received another update:
- Image Mini Overlord: vivo X200
- vivo's one more thing: vivo X200 Pro mini
- Image New Overlord: vivo X200 Pro
- OriginOS 5 embedded with AI
So let's find out together what surprises vivo has in store for us after just 5 months with the X200 series.
X200 · The Trio
Tonight, vivo unveiled three new devices: X200 | X200 Pro mini | X200 Pro, each with differences in configuration that are reflected in the appearance of the phones.
Usually, the size of a phone and its configuration are directly proportional: the larger the device, the higher the configuration. However, the X200 series from vivo takes a different route. The smallest model, X200 Pro mini, is the largest, while the X200, which looks similar to the X200 Pro in size and appearance, is actually in the middle.
Although there are some differences in configuration among the three devices, with certain features only available on the higher-end models, overall, as a new series, they have many upgraded features compared to the previous generation.
The most noticeable change is in the appearance. Last year's X100 series had two iconic designs: the use of dual curved screens on the front and the asymmetric design of the rear camera module frame.
These two points became controversial aspects of the X100 series. Some people like the feel of the dual curved screen and the seamless transition between the screen, middle frame, and back panel inspired by "eclipses," finding it creative. However, some cannot tolerate the display distortion caused by the curved screen.
Therefore, X200 has made changes in these two aspects: both X200 and X200 Pro have switched to equally deep four-curved screens, marking a trend where curved screens are gradually moving down to flagship and even mid-range models, while equally deep four-curved screens are becoming the flagship's preferred choice.
The four-curved screen of the vivo X200 series is designed with equal depth, width, and R angle. Additionally, in the new series, vivo has partnered with Zeiss to introduce the Zeiss Master Color Screen, which standardizes the system, third-party apps, and all kinds of videos and photos into one standard.
The X200 Pro mini with a smaller screen has embraced a "design renaissance" by bringing back a flat screen to vivo's flagship series.
Although the X200 Pro mini is the showstopper as the "one more thing," I want to introduce this model first because it may look like a mini, but it has the heart of a Pro.
The X200 Pro mini features a 6.31-inch screen, is equal in width on all sides, and has a slightly thicker chin. However, upon closer observation, you may not even notice the millimeter-level differences.
Despite its compact size, the X200 Pro mini is equipped with a large battery of 5700mAh, which may offer more durability in real-life usage compared to larger screen phones. Stay tuned for comparative tests to see if this holds true.
The larger X200 did not miss out on imaging features, which are all standard on the Pro mini. While the 500-megapixel Zeiss super-telephoto pixel lens is missing, the imaging effects are still top-notch on the X200 Pro. Features like Bluechips x Sony LYT-818, Blue Crystal x Tianji 9400, 3nm all-core processor, and 90W fast charging are present on the X200 Pro.
Returning to the standard-sized model, which attracts more attention from users, the lens module's border features a symmetrical circular design. This rounded and symmetrical design may be preferred by many users who might not mistake it for a "tolerance issue" where the metal around the lens edge has taken on that appearance.
The upgrade of the X200 is not just about appearances; there are also significant upgrades not visible to the naked eye in the entire series.
Firstly, the chip, which is the most complex component of the phone, has been upgraded to the Dimensity 9400 chip for all models in the X200 series, replacing the Dimensity 9300 from the previous generation. This makes the X200 series the first Android models to feature the Dimensity 9400 chip, which, according to vivo, not only improves performance but also comes with its built-in V2 image chip.
The vivo X200 series is the first to feature the Dimensity 9400 chip, and vivo claims that this chip not only offers performance improvements but also comes with a V2 image chip.
The Dimensity 9400 chip offers a 35% increase in single-core performance, a 28% increase in multi-core performance, and a 43% reduction in power consumption.
The GPU's peak performance has increased by 41%, power consumption has reduced by 44%, and ray tracing performance has improved by 40%.
The built-in eighth-generation NPU has improved large language model processing performance by over 80% and can save 35% power consumption. This chip is designed for AI, and behind the scenes, this eighth-generation NPU is expected to contribute significantly.
As for whether the X200 Ultra will use the fourth-generation Snapdragon 8, we may have to wait for half a year to find out. However, the benchmark results of this chip are worth mentioning as vivo announced multiple benchmark scores at the event, with Antutu scoring over 3.04 million points, making it the first phone to break the 3 million mark on Antutu.
